Cristina Petratti graduated as Intensive Care Specialist from SATI (Argentine Society of Intensive Care) in May 2004 and earned a degree in Critical Medicine and Intensive Care from UBA (University of Buenos Aires).

General Manager at ARMD SRL, homecare assistance services company from 2006 to date. Academic Director of the course Mechanical Respiratory Assistance at “Universidad de Belgrano” in 2011.

Es un libro que reúne los conceptos básicos que hacen a la internación domiciliaria enfocada a pacientes con condiciones respiratorias complejas que requieren medidas de sostén vital avanzadas, en especial de asistencia respiratoria mecánica a largo plazo, en sus diversas modalidades, abarcando temas que tratan desde lo estrictamente asistencial hasta aquellos de aspectos técnicos, legales, de gerenciamiento, psicológicos, etc. .
Debido a la alta dependencia tecnológica de este tipo de pacientes esta modalidad de asistencia médica requiere la incorporación permanente de nueva tecnología y capacitación constante para su empleo. En este modo terapéutico el concepto de cuidado es más abarcativo que el de tratamiento; cuidar al paciente es también comprender su situación y la de su familia.
El libro intenta ser una fuente de información actualizada para todos aquellos profesionales de la salud (médicos, kinesiólogos, enfermeros, fonaudiólogos, terapistas ocupacionales, psicólogos, etc) involucrados en esta herramienta asistencial, que se encuentra en pleno desarrollo.
Además es el primer libro en idioma castellano que aborda esta temática con este nivel de desarrollo. Está desarrollado en un lenguaje simple para que pueda ser leído por familiares y pacientes con la finalidad de ayudarlos a transitar por este nuevo camino.
